Last night was the September’s installment of the New York Tech Meetup. We witnessed an awesome event last night at NYU Skirball Center.

The presentation was lead off by Movable Ink , they are changing the way marketers create and send emails by allowing them to have dynamic and real-time content inside. One of the more interesting parts of their demo was when they broke out the web cropping tool. The web crop allows you to crop live content from any website and directly imbedded it into your marketing campaign. Their site is definitely worth a look as the offer some other useful marketing tools.
Next up was Clearhealthcosts.com. This project started after CEO Jeanne Pinder received an absurdly high bill for a lower back MRI, she decide to take action. The site allows users view what other patients have paid for 30 different medical procedures in the New York area. I could see a bright future for this company, with some major changes coming to the healthcare system, people may really start to take an interest in what they are paying at the doctors office.
Cmp.ly was next, their mission is to make it easier for companies to put disclosure messages in social media space where text characters are limited. By creating with Cmp.ly you will be able to also track and manage your disclosure message with a full suite of analytic tools. As social media continues to grow and people use smaller screens with more character limits I could really see a huge opportunity for this company.

Up next, just in time for election season was Turbovote. This company is on a mission to make registering to vote as easy as renting Netflix video. The website takes in all the necessary information, prepares the proper forms and then mails them to users ready to be sent to out. All users need to sign and put in the mail, Sweet! Really making that much easier to “Rock the Vote”.
Divide by Enterproid was the next presenter. They have come up with a solution for something that is becoming more common in today’s tech and business world, two cell phones. People are forced to carry two cell phones as the need to stay connect with both personal and business life increases. They have eliminated that by allowing users to separate them on one device. With a simple double tap of the home button on your mobile device you can bounce between two separate environments. Each with ability to work independently. Another great feature of the program is no information is share between the two environments, make sure that nothing will leak into your work from personal information.

“He shoots, He Scores” VoiceBunny provided one of the more colorful presentation of the night. VoiceBunny is your on demand source of voiceover recordings. This simple to use site allows anyone to get professional voiceover recordings within minutes. User simply fill out a form and make any specific request and VoiceBunny shoots out your request to over 100,000 voiceover specialist. Within minutes you will receive a notification letting you know that your recording is completed and ready for listening.
The next presenter has done something that few have tried, they are challenging the way people use their address books. Brewster has reimagined your standard address book into a searchable database of information. Connecting with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare etc) and Google apps they have been able to share with you what all your contacts are interested in, if they have moved or changed jobs. This really something revolutionary and we will be keeping an eye on this to see how the technology shapes new phone devices.
Have you ever need a legal document and spent countless hours on the web searching for something that you felt was worthy of your time? Your prayers have been answered , the next presenter Docracy has made just that. An easy to use resource of legal documents and to top it off the even have e-signing to make it a one stop shop for your legal documents needs. BOOM! I hate to use this next line but it certainly fits this group.
Last and certainly not least was Condition One. Their immersive video application absolutely blew away the crowd. With their software people are able to view video’s in 180° degrees for their iPad or iPhone. By simply moving your device left or right give you a completely different moving image. We have seen panoramic pictures before, but this is fully interactive video. Makes you feel that you are apart of the video you are watching. They are going to completely change the way sees and views video. Great Innovation.
Really was a great night! If you haven’t been to a NY Tech Meetup yet I would absolutely check it out. Always a great way to see what is new in the NY tech scene.
